IS Edward C. Woods P.P.,Potentate 2018
Edward C. Woods born on February 6, 1971 in Wiesbaden Germany to Marion and Gary Woods. Much of his youth was spent growing up in the town of Bruch Germany near Spangdahlem Air Force Base where his father was stationed in the U.S. Air Force. Subsequently his father was stationed to George Air Force Base near Victorville California and then retired to Seattle Washington where Edward attended Chief South High School in West Seattle.
In 1988 Edward enlisted in the United States Army Reserves on the split option program and went to boot camp at Fort Leonard-Wood Missouri. After graduating high school in 1989 he finished his advance training at Fort Jackson South Carolina.
After graduation from high school Edward started working at J.A. Jack and Sons Inc. - Imperial Limestone in Seattle Washington. After 4 years working as a warehouseman, he entered public service going to work for the State of Washington - Department of Corrections at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton Washington in 1993.
Edward started his career in corrections as a correctional officer working through the ranks of correctional sergeant, lieutenant and correctional unit supervisor. While at the Washington Corrections Center he served on and ultimately became the team leader for the facility’s Special Emergency Response Team (SWAT team). Edward was a trainer for the Departments Correctional Officers Academy in its early days and has also served as a trained firearm, less-lethal and use of force instructor for many years. In 2012 Edward joined the departments newly formed Incident Management Team (Emergency Management) continuing in this capacity until 2019.
Edward moved from the Washington Corrections Center to the Department of Corrections Headquarters in Tumwater Washington in early 2017 where he currently works as a management analyst - 5 compiling reports with data from the departments system of record for managers, legislative staff, internal and external customers applying his previous 23 years of prison experience to the work he currently does.
Edward holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice – Corrections form Kaplan University graduating Summa Cum Laude.
Edward is joined by the love of his life of over 28 years Lady Karolyn Woods, their son Alexander and daughter Kaitlin. They have one granddaughter Marilyn.
Edward was initiated on September 19, 2006, Passed October 17, 2006 and Raised December 19, 2006; passed proficiency on December 4, 2007 at Harmony Lodge No. 18. Shortly thereafter he served as Junior Steward, Senior Steward then moving to Senior Warden and was installed as Worshipful Master of his lodge in 2011. He continues to serve as Secretary.
He was appointed as District Deputy of the Grandmaster in District 16 by Most Worshipful Bruce Vesper and Most Worshipful Sam Roberts. He was appointed as Special Deputy of the Grandmaster in District 16 by Most Worshipful Don Munks, Most Worshipful Jim Mendoza and Most Worshipful Warren Schoeben.
Edward has served as chairman on the Leadership Training Committee – Lodge Leaderships Retreat, President of The Grand Lodge Building Association and Trial Committee for the last couple of years.
He was awarded the Grand Masters Achievement Award in March of 2019.
Edward is the Past Potentate (2018) for Afifi Shriners. He is a 32° KCCH Scottish Rite Mason and served as the Venerable Master, Wise Master and Commander for the Valley of Olympia Scottish Rite.
On June 15, 2019 Edward was elected Junior Grand Warden of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of WA.

Walter A. Woodward P.P. was raised a Master Mason in 2002 at Parkland/Lakewood No. 299.
Walter was no stranger to masonry as he was actively involved with his grandparents
Walter and Lorraine Schnoor of Arc Lodge in Burien, WA.
Walter was an active volunteer at the Masonic Retirement Center in Des Moines, WA, adopting many seniors and looking after their healthcare and wellbeing. Having been an active advisor in DeMolay and Job's Daughters Walter is a Past Associate Guardian of Bethel No. 75 in Des Moines, WA. Walter was a member of the Grand Lodge Float Committee for many years.
Walter met his lady, Heidi, at a Job's Daughters meeting in Auburn, WA. Shortly after, the two were married at the Masonic Retirement Center in Des Moines, WA witnessed by Mr. Cleo McCord, Best Man, and Mrs. Helen Miles, Matron of Honor. Walter became the proud stepparent to Jessie and Alex, a Past Honored Queen of Bethel No. 45 Renton, WA, and Past Master Councilor of Merle E. Luther Chapter Black Diamond, WA. Walter and Heidi welcomed their son McCord "Mackie" into the world in 2008. Walter is an active member of the Black Diamond/Maple Valley Kiwanis club. He was an integral force in chartering the new Black Diamond/Maple Valley club in 2010 and is proud to be their Charter President.
Walter followed his Grandfathers footsteps in becoming a Shriner, joining Afifi Shrine in 2002. Becoming "Schnoor" the clown has been one of the highlights of Walter's Shrine journey. Walter is an enthusiastic classic car collector and enjoys G scale trains.
IS Doug Bates P.P. has worked in the Pulp and Paper Industry for 42 years
at the same complex but different owners over the years.
Doug began his Masonic career when he petitioned Grays Harbor #52. Shortly after being raised, he joined Scottish Rite and Afifi Shrine. He is also a member of The Order of Quetzalcoatl, Jesters and Order of Eastern Star.
He held the position of Secretary/Treasurer in Grays Harbor Shrine Club for several years.
He is married to Lady Diane and as you all know he will join in and help when ever possible.
IS John Hubbard P.P. was raised a master in October 1974 in Lebanon Lodge #831 American-Canadian Grand Lodge in
Augsburg Germany, He is currently a member of 2 Washington Lodges, Woodland-Kalama #17 of which he is
a life member and Mt Hood #32. He is Past Master of Woodland-Kalama, and past treasurer of Mt Hood. He
is a member of the Vancouver Scottish Rite Valley and is a Member of Vancouver York Rite bodies. He is
a Past Eminent Commander of the Commandery and Past Illustrious Master of the Council. He is a High Priest
of Chapter. In 1994 he joined Al Kader Shrine just before transferring to California where he joined, Al
Malika's High Desert Shrine Club and was active with them until 2000 when he moved to Vancouver. Shortly
after arriving he changed his shrine membership to Afifi and Joined Gateway Shrine Club. In 2005 he was
appointed to the divan as 1st Ceremonial Master. He served in that position for 2 years before being
elected to the Elected Divan Line.
John has had careers with the US Army and the Office of Federal Investigations. He also taught economics for several years at a college in Oregon. He is married to Malee who is an RN. They have a daughter, Malessa, who is a 17 year old running start student at Clark College. John has 5 other children who are all grown up and have families of their own. They have given him 12 grand children and 3 great-grand children. His interests include fishing, travel, hot rods, masonry and political economics.
IS John M. Brett P.P. comes from a military background. His father had a commendable
career in the Air Force and John followed in the same service. After graduating from the University
of Cincinnati with a Major in Accounting and a Minor in Finance, he accepted a commission and attended
pilot training. His first assignment was as a squadron pilot flying a C-130 in the Laotian part of the
Southeast Asian conflict. His last military assignment was with the C-130 squadron at McCord AFB, where
he was the Chief Pilot. In 1989 this squadron was disbanded and John decided it was time to leave the
service. He then spent several years flying for a contract freight air carrier. In this position he
spent most of his time flying food relief in several different countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Eventually
he was hired by the United Nations to establish, manage and fly an air drop food relief program in the
war-torn country of Liberia.
John married his high school sweetheart, Sandra LeSuer, and he later discovered both families are well founded in Masonic history. Several generations on all sides of both families have been members of the fraternity and numerous affiliated and concordant bodies.
John began his Masonic path about twenty years ago when he petitioned Fairweather Lodge in Tacoma. Shortly after being raised, he joined the Scottish Rite, all three bodies of York Rite and Afifi Shrine. John's list of dues cards is not limited to, but includes, the Pacific Council of the Allied Masonic Degrees, Masonic Society of Rosicrucians, Red Cross of Constantine, the Orders of Quetzalcoatl and the Jesters,

IS W. Gary Norton P.P. was born September 3, 1950 on the Indian Reservation in Salamanca, New York.
Parents are William J. Norton and Shirley A. (Near) Norton. Both are deceased. Father was a Master
Mason and Past Master of his Masonic Lodge. Two younger brothers, Bradley C. Norton (Master Mason)
(15 October 1954) and Michael B. Norton (March 1972). Resided in Bradford, PA from 1950 to 1961 and
then relocated to Phoenix, AZ. In 1964 relocated to Horseheads, NY (vicinity of Elmira, NY). where he
completed high school graduating in 1968 from Thomas A. Edison High School. Member of the National
Honor Society, selected as "Boy of the Year" by the Optimist Club in 1968, American Legion Oratorical
Contest winner, participated in football (earned letter) and tennis, Junior Class President, Student
Council President in Senior year and received New York State Regents Full Scholarship. Attended and
graduated in 1972 from Clarkson College of Technology (now Clarkson University) in Potsdam, NY. Received
Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Distribution, an interdisciplinary curriculum of business and
He received an U.S. Army ROTC Full Scholarship while at Clarkson College. Upon graduation was commissioned in the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Signal Corps. Attended and graduated in 1985 from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS and received the special designate as a Strategist for worldwide multi-faceted military operations. Received Master of Science degree in 1985. Thesis based on "Psychokinesis and its Impact on Warfare Strategy". Completed the Defense Strategy course in 1989 from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA. Retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army in 1992 after completing over 20 years of service. Received a number of awards and medals, the highest being the Legion of Merit medal and the Bronze Mercury Medallion from the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
